How to choose a voltage regulator
1、 The function of voltage regulator
The voltage regulators sold in the market generally have three main functions:
1. Can stabilize the voltage of low voltage 125V-165V or high voltage 250V-270V between 200-230V, so that household appliances can work normally;
2. When the input voltage is higher than 255V or lower than 160V and the output voltage is higher than 235V, the power supply can be automatically cut off;
3. When there is a sudden incoming call after a power outage, the output power can be delayed for 5-8 minutes to avoid damage to the electrical appliances due to high voltage.
When choosing a household voltage regulator, it is important to pay attention to the completeness of the three basic functions mentioned above.
4. Power regulators can generally only function as voltage stabilizers within the corresponding range, and beyond this range, they can also fail or even be damaged.
2、 Classification of voltage regulators
There are mainly two types of voltage regulators classified in terms of structure.
The first type is manual voltage regulator: the second type of product has the lowest price and has been basically phased out due to inconvenient operation
The second type is an automatic voltage regulator:
(1) Polar automatic voltage regulator: High end voltage regulators use servo motors to control voltage. Its advantages are that there is no instantaneous power outage, the output voltage is stable, and the general voltage regulation accuracy is 3-5%. It is suitable for high-end and high voltage demanding electrical appliances, such as computers and testing equipment. For example, the SVC series fully automatic high-precision voltage regulator
(2) Relay type automatic voltage regulator: using relay switching to adjust the output voltage, the voltage fluctuation is large, and the accuracy is relatively low. Used for mid-range voltage regulators, such as the TM series high-power automatic AC voltage regulators. These products have high stability, low price, and are suitable for equipment with low voltage accuracy requirements.
3、 Voltage regulator price
The voltage regulator itself comes in many types and capacities of the same size. Different types result in different prices. In addition, the capacity of the voltage regulator ranges from 500VA-2000KVA, some even larger, and the price ranges from 70-80 yuan to tens of thousands of units!
4、 Conditions for purchasing a voltage regulator
Because the designer of the electrical appliance has taken into account the power supply fluctuation factor during use and designed a safety factor, it can ensure normal operation within a certain voltage fluctuation range. If the power supply voltage in your residential area is often maintained within the voltage range suitable for household appliances and does not undergo frequent power outages, there is no need to purchase a voltage regulator.
